PERSEVERANCE MINI BOOK
This is a short story about a girl who enters the art contest only to find out that it’s harder than she thinks.
There are 2 versions: full color or black and white with pictures to color
WORKSHEETS
These can be completed independently or in small groups, if students need help reading the text.
Includes 3 worksheets:
• Coloring page with writing prompt that goes along with the mini book
• Cut and paste sort persevering vs. giving up statements
• What would you do? 5 short scenarios – Students describe something they wish they could do, steps they can take, what they would do if they failed, and how they will feel when they meet the goal.
Answer keys are included.
PERSEVERING OR NOT? DISCUSSION ACTIVITY
Includes 12 short scenarios to read and discuss whether they show persevering or giving up. There are also optional ”voting cards” with persevering/thumbs up on one side and not persevering/thumbs down on the other that students can use to indicate their answers.
